Field to be featured on FOX Sports West and Prime Ticket
WEST HILLS, California (September 21, 2011) - At Chaminade College Preparatory High School, it’s out with the old and in with the BLUE – Matrix Synthetic Turf – with Hellas Sports Construction at the helm. The Eagles were chosen to nationally debut their cobalt turf on FOX Sports West and PRIME TICKET against the Alemany Warriors on Friday, September 23.
“The blue turf brings excitement and a new energy to our students and fans alike, building school spirit and a sense of pride for our student athletes. We’ve even nicknamed the field The Deep Blue C,” said Chaminade Athletic Director Todd Borowski.
“It sets us apart and offers our school a unique feature exclusive to Chaminade.”
The Eagles, seeded 18th in the ESPN Los Angeles prep football rankings, will be featured on Friday night as one of the four “Games of the Week” in the inaugural launch of FOX Sports West and PRIME TICKET’s Prep Zone high school web casts on FoxSportsWest.com.
“Everybody loves the new field,” said Ed Croson, head football coach at Chaminade. “We wanted a turf system that was unique and technologically advanced. The Matrix turf in our school colors of blue and orange is absolutely beautiful and has really enhanced our campus overall.”
According to Croson, the school selected Matrix turf for its stellar performance capabilities and Hellas Sports Construction for their ability to “deliver exceptional value while staying within our budget. I would absolutely recommend Hellas for future projects.”
The Matrix system has been utilized by numerous high-profile clients including the Dallas Cowboys Stadium and is the turf industry’s paramount product. It is comprised of two monofilament (spinneret) fibers that are manufactured in different sizes, shapes and colors. This configuration creates the best traction and system stability possible; and, under stadium lighting, the color combination provides excellent light deflection. The backing and high strength coating provides an unparalleled tuft bind. Its durability and playability is highly superior. Matrix turf has been selected for several field renovations in California including Oak Park High School, Orange Glen High School, Santa Monica High School, San Pasqual High School, The Language Academy and Escondido High School, along with numerous collegiate fields and professional stadiums across the nation.
