Hellas completes construction on three synthetic fields in Desoto Parish

Project to feature two Usain Bolt endorsed tracks

MANSFIELD, Louisiana (September 8, 2011) - On time for the 2011-2012 football season, DeSoto Parish School System announced the official completion of three Insurrection™ synthetic turf system installations and also the progress of two Usain Bolt endorsed track systems by Hellas Sports Construction.

Scott Abernathy, Head Football Coach for North Desoto High School, is very pleased with the turf installation and stated, “From upper management to the on-site workers, Hellas Construction has been professional and cooperative throughout the entirety of this process. The projects required removal of previous grass surfaces, extensive excavation including a substantial storm water drainage system, major concrete work and renovation of the tracks. Subsequently new pits for the long jump and triple jump were installed and the discus/shot put area was redesigned and reconstructed.

North DeSoto, Logansport and Mansfield high schools have each received finishing touches for their Matrix turf football fields, while track projects are slated for use by September 16. North DeSoto and Mansfield will receive tracks endorsed by world record runner Usain St. Leo Bolt, who describes the surface being used as “seamless, start to finish. From my toes to my nose, I feel nobody can catch me. Nobody!"

Arguably one of the most naturally gifted athletes the world has ever seen, Bolt realized his dreams by winning three gold medals at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. Bolt became the first man in Olympic history to win both the 100m and 200m races in worldrecord times and also took part in the 4x100m team that also smashed the world record.Insurrection is a revolutionary and new product that emulates natural grass with light deflectors that create a realistic look, while also offering a lower overall temperature. The fiber used for each blade of the synthetic grass is created with traction bars that provide advanced footing capabilities, as well as memory proficiency that allow the fibers to bounce back to their natural shape after repeated use.

Abernathy went on to say, "We've now practiced, scrimmaged, held a jamboree and also hosted our opening game. It's a great, fast surface that provides an advantage to our overall team speed. The athletes have taken pride and ownership of their new turf! It’s simply the best."
