Weber Defeats Sacramento State and Northern Colorado with a New Field and New Hope
OGDEN, Utah (September 27, 2011) - After a tough loss on the road at Utah State, the Wildcats came home to a new field — Matrix synthetic turf by Hellas Sports Construction—giving them a boost of morale and an impressive 32-point spread against California State University.
The Wildcats then went on to crush the University of Northern Colorado this weekend, 45-21, reaffirming their newfound confidence. Joining an elite group of turf clients that include the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, the Cotton Bowl, Baylor University, Idaho State, the Alamodome and Northern Arizona University, WSU is in good company.
Jerry Bovee, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics states, "Our new Matrix field has been a great addition to the football facility here at Weber State University. Our players have enjoyed the consistency that the surfaceoffers and our fans have been excited to watch our team play on the new field."
The Matrix system is the turf industry’s paramount product and is comprised of special monofilament (spinneret) yarns in different sizes, shapes and colors. This configuration creates the best traction and system stability possible, and under stadium lighting the color combination provides excellent light deflection. The environmentally friendly backing and high strength coating provides an unparalleled tuft bind. Its durability and playability is highly superior to other turf products available in the market.
Bovee went on to say, "The team at Hellas was very responsive to our needs during the construction process. We couldn't be happier!"
The Wildcats will faceoff against the Eastern Washington Eagles on October 1st.
