THE NSU RIVERHAWKS GET NEW TURF:

April 28, 2015

AUSTIN, TX (April, 28) — Gable Field in Doc Wadley Stadium at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma finalized a contract on April 13th with Hellas Construction to replace their 10 year old field turf with Matrix®Turf. The removal process begins in May 2015.

Tony Duckworth, the Director of Athletics at NSU, is thrilled to partner with Hellas on this turf project and says, "Our focus has been on identifying a product that is a combination of performance, quality, safety, value, and reputation. Hellas' one-stop-shop organizational structure has exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to their installation team arriving on campus in late May.”

NSU President Steve Turner says, “The turf will not only be visually stunning, it will provide a playing surface that is designed at industry standards to reduce the number of impact-related injuries of the players. I am confident that all teams from NSU, the MIAA, and Tahlequah High School who play on this state-of-the-art surface will appreciate and enjoy this investment for years to come.”

Doc Wadley Stadium underwent a $3.5 million renovation in 2005 which included expanding the seating capacity to 8300, installing turf and a video scoreboard, and adding restrooms and concession areas. The facility is also used for the Tahlequah High School football games and marching band contests.
