About
Austin, TX (May 22, 2015) —
Irving, Nimitz, and MacArthur High Schools contracted Hellas Construction to convert their fields from natural grass to Matrix® Synthetic Turf, which broke ground in the beginning of this May. All projects will be constructed and completed simultaneously in time for football season this fall.
All three high schools are located in Irving, TX, former hometown of the Dallas Cowboys who also play on Matrix® Turf. Irving ISD chose Hellas Construction for a superior product at the best price and service that started with a previous running track project that was completed in 2009. The multi-use facilities will have new construction and a Cushdrain® pad underneath the turf, a paved-in-place elastic layer to increase shock absorption, or G-Max.
Scott Layne, Assistant Superintendent for Support Services at Irving ISD, says “The Irving ISD is excited to partner with Hellas Construction for the installation of synthetic turf at our 3 high schools. The outstanding reputation of Hellas ensures that we will receive quality products that will allow for higher levels of safety for our student athletes as well as create an outdoor classroom area that can be utilized for many other types of events.”
