About
Austin, TX (June 4, 2015) —
Los Fresnos CISD, serving 10,600 students, contracted with Hellas Construction for $1.78 million based on a good reputation for quality service, superior products, and one point of contact. The conversion of Los Fresnos High School and Leo Aguilar Memorial Stadium fields from natural grass to Matrix® Synthetic Turf broke ground early May for completion in August.
Leo Aguilar Memorial Stadium, with a capacity of 9,000, will install Matrix® Turf with Realfill™ infill and a Cushdrain® pad (frequently called an elastic layer) for improved playability and G-Max. Clint Finley, Athletic Director at Los Fresnos CISD, says “Hellas fields not only look beautiful, but with the Cushdrain technology, we feel like we are giving our athletes the safest field that we can possibly provide.” The stadium will be completed in late August to host the Falcons Friday night football games.
The Los Fresnos High School “Mini Stadium” will also have Matrix® Turf with Realfill™ infill and a Cushdrain® pad which will be utilized by the JV Light, JV Dark, and Varsity football and soccer teams practices. Finley believes the new turf practice field will allow for more practice time in any weather with fewer cancellations.
Finley says, “We are very excited here in Los Fresnos about the future of our athletic program with the construction of two new Hellas turf fields. The fact that Hellas does not contract out for third party services in the construction process also played a factor in our decision to use Hellas.”
