AUSTIN, TX (April 4, 2016) –
Robert F. Kennedy High School in Delano, CA goes green!
On March 21, Hellas Construction returned to RFK to install its
Geo Plus infill – an all-organic
, infill solution that offers superior foot stability and cools surface temperatures. After rave reviews from Madera High School, located an hour north of RFK, upon installation of their Matrix® Turf with Helix fibers and Geo Plus infill, RFK decided to also take the plunge to Geo.
“We’re excited to have it on our campus. We think it’s going to be very beneficial to both our athletic program and our student body community,” said Les Lucas, Jr., Assistant Principal-Student Support at Robert F. Kennedy High School.
In 2011, Hellas built the RFK high school stadium and installed
Matrix Turf
and
Realfill.
Last week, the transformation began with the extraction of the Realfill infill, using Hellas’ unique process. Then, the Geo Plus infill was dispersed and installed, and the crews groomed the field to be game day ready.
The transformation process of rubber infill removal and Geo Plus installation took Hellas crews a total of 8 days – and now RFK athletes and visiting teams will have a completely transformed synthetic turf field with organic infill for the upcoming season.
“This is the first time that crumb tire infill has been removed from a synthetic turf field in the state of California, to the best of our knowledge, and Hellas is leading the charge with unsurpassed ingenuity,” said Dominick Berarducci, Business Development Manager at Hellas.
