LITTLE ROCK, AR (Apr 27, 2020) –
When student-athletes return to Little Rock Christian Academy, the Warriors will get to play on a brand new, best-in-class Matrix Helix™ synthetic turf field from Hellas Construction. Hellas Construction, based in Austin, TX, is the country’s largest sports surfacing contractor.
Hellas will replace the existing synthetic turf at Warrior Field with a system that includes the latest technologies. The field will be upgraded to Hellas’ Matrix Helix synthetic turf system and feature Ecotherm™ infill and a paved-in-place Cushdrain® elastic layer pad.
Helix technology curls each of the turf fibers during the manufacturing process to deliver memory and tenacity to the turf system, allowing them to spring upright after use and secure the infill, reducing “splash-out” and migration of the infill. The Matrix Helix system offers a uniform, aesthetically pleasing playing surface.
Ecotherm infill blends recycled wallpaper, thermoplastic polyurethane, and cellulose plant fibers to create a resilient infill that captures ambient moisture to cool the field – yielding temperature reductions up to 20 degrees versus traditional SBR rubber infills.
Cushdrain adds a layer of protection for players under the field by reducing GMAX (the force experienced during a fall) over the course of three to four field lifecycles. A layer of recycled rubber and polyurethane is paved under the field, creating a uniform platform for performance.
“Hellas was the clear choice. They installed the 50-yard Matrix Helix system on our indoor practice field two years ago and we have been very pleased with the result. Warrior Field will be the best field in the state of Arkansas. We wanted to make an investment in the safety and performance of our athletes, which is why we selected the cooling infill and pad options,” said Johnny Watson, Little Rock Christian’s Athletic Director.
David Fisher, Business Development Manager for Hellas Construction stated, “It’s a tremendous honor to work with a prestigious institution like Little Rock Christian Academy. They are so well regarded for their high academic, athletic, and moral standards. We can’t wait to get started.”
Warrior Field will be lined for football and soccer, and installation is slated to begin April 27, 2020.
