AUSTIN, TX (June 2, 2020) –
Lake Travis ISD selected Austin-based Hellas Construction to install a new top-of-the line synthetic turf system at Cavalier Stadium. Hellas provided a new field in the indoor football practice facility as well.
As a six-time state championship football team, Lake Travis High School is used to demanding the best. Hellas Construction is America’s largest vertically integrated sports surfacing contractor, with a client list that ranges from NFL to elementary schools nationwide.
“Lake Travis has played on many Hellas fields across Texas. We have had great experiences with their fields at NRG and AT&T Stadiums in the State Championships, and we are confident that Hellas will be a great partner for Lake Travis ISD,” said Hank Carter, Lake Travis’ Athletic Director and winningest coach in school history.
For Cavalier Stadium, Hellas provided its Matrix Helix™ synthetic turf system over a paved-in-place Cushdrain® elastic layer. Helix technology curls each of the turf fibers during the manufacturing process to deliver memory and tenacity to the turf system, allowing them to spring upright after use and secure the infill. The Matrix Helix system offers a uniform, aesthetically pleasing playing surface. Because Hellas manufactures its own synthetic turf systems, it guarantees the highest raw ingredients, including the exclusive use C8 resin in its fiber manufacturing. This level of quality control helps deliver a long-lasting investment.
The Cushdrain elastic layer was paved-in-place by Hellas Construction crews. Cushdrain adds a layer of protection for players under the field by reducing GMAX (the force experienced during a fall) over the course of three to four field lifecycles.
Hellas installed its Fusion™ synthetic turf system over a pad in the indoor practice facility. The Fusion system combines high quality slit film and monofilament fibers.
“Hellas is proud to share in the legacy of excellence at Lake Travis High School. It is an honor to provide the platform for performance to the only team in Texas football history to have earned five consecutive State Championships,” said Hellas Construction’s President and CEO Reed J. Seaton.
Renovation of the fields started March 24, and the fields were completed in May long before school starts in the Fall.
