About
(February 21, 2022) –
Hellas Construction has been awarded contracts to replace the athletic sports surfaces at multiple Round Rock ISD schools.
Hellas Construction is a local sports construction company with a diverse workforce that employs more than 1,000 employees nationwide. Hellas boasts long-standing personal, as well as professional, ties with the Round Rock ISD as the Chief Operating Officer, Director of Sales and children of the CEO all attended Round Rock ISD schools.
Crews from Hellas Construction will remove and replace the existing synthetic turf at the Westwood and McNeil High School football fields. After the existing materials are removed, Hellas will prepare and install a new Matrix Helix® synthetic turf system.
Matrix Helix synthetic turf has shape memory technology which curls each of the fibers during the manufacturing process. Shape memory technology allows the fibers to spring upright after use and secure the infill, reducing “splash-out” and migration of the infill. The Matrix Helix system is resilient, durable, aesthetically pleasing, and offers a superior playing surface.
Simultaneously, crews from the Hellas Track Division will begin a complete reconstruction of the 6-lane running track at Hopewell Middle School using epiq Tracks S200 system. The system is a porous paved-in-place synthetic running track comprised of a bottom layer of polyurethane bound rubber granules topped with a spray-applied coat of one or two-component polyurethane and EPDM granules.
Hellas has a history working with the Round Rock ISD that spans decades with installations at schools across the district. President and CEO Reed Seaton says “It’s a real honor to continue our successful working relationship with the professionals at Round Rock ISD and these new contracts. Hellas manufactures turf and track systems to ensure every athlete has a safe and enjoyable playing experience.”
Hellas Construction, headquartered in Austin, Texas, is America’s largest sports surfacing contractor, specializing in the construction and installation of sports surfaces. Hellas is the largest vertically integrated sports construction contractor in the United States, manufactures its own synthetic turf, track, tennis, and sports lighting materials at three Hellas owned factories and owns and operates its own heavy construction equipment staffed by specially trained and certified employee crews. This allows Hellas to control the supply chain, construction schedules, budgets, and project requirements without reliance upon independent third parties.
